Vintage Fisher Price Play Family
Complete with Both Boxes
EXC+++-NEAR MINT (U)
Here's a CLASSIC play set, Fisher Price's Little People Play Family Action Garage (#930) that is 100% complete with both boxes and in EXC+++--NEAR MINT condition! This play set captured the hearts and minds of many preschool youngsters. I've configured this offering to coincide with Fisher Price's 1970 production run.
After repeated close inspections, I can only detect the following flaws on the EXTERIOR and INTERIOR lithos:
1. Some large bubbles under the #1, 2, and 4 Parking places; these are places where the litho has come loose from the underlying plastic surface; I do not want to mess with these because otherwise, the original litho is in pristine condition;
2. A smattering of small bubbles on the litho on the top of the elevator; these are all confined to the back part of the roof; most of these bubble are 1/8" L x 1/8" W in size with the largest being @ 2" L x 1/8" W; they are not readily visible to the naked eye; I literally didn't see these when I first inspected this base. It's only when I looked at my photos from different angles and under different lighting conditions that I could ascertain these were present; they definitely do not detract from the overall appearance or function of this set;
3. Several light scratches on the underneath side of the masonite base; naturally, these are not visible when the set is on display or in play.
The remaining EXTERIOR and INTERIOR lithos are in MINT condition. They are spotless, brightly colored, and free of any scratches, rubs, marks, stains or other aberrations. I have lowered my overall rating of this base from MINT to EXC+++-NEAR MINT solely because of the bubbles mentioned above on the Parking lot litho and on the top of the elevator shaft.
Other than a few faint surface scratches, all of the plastic surfaces are in MINT condition with no chips, "dings," cracks, repairs, discolorations, fading, stains, marks etc. being discerned. All of the plastic surfaces have retained their original glossy lustre and coloration. All four corners of the masonite base are 100% intact and free of any layering, cracking, smushing etc. Basically, this base looks BRAND NEW.
Last but not least, all moving parts (e.g. elevator, car carousel, car grease rack) operate as designed. The bell is shiny and bright and rings merrily when the elevator passes each floor.
I'm being super "nit-picky" in my description as I don't want any of my customers to be disappointed by their purchases from me. This is a heirloom quality set---one that any die-hard collector or lucky child would be proud to own.
THESE ARE ALL THE ORIGINAL LITHOS. I DO NOT USE REPLACEMENT LITHOS ON MY SETS. IF A LITHO IS MISSING OR DAMAGED EXTENSIVELY, I OCCASIONALLY OFFER THE BUYER A REPLACEMENT LITHO. HOWEVER, I DO NOT APPLY THESE LITHOS MYSELF. I LEAVE IT TOTALLY UP TO THE DISCRETION OF THE BUYER WHETHER THEY WISH TO UTILIZE THESE. I DO NOT FEEL ANY REPLACEMENT LITHOS ARE WARRANTED ON THIS BASE---THE ORIGINAL LITHOS ARE INTACT AND FULL OF THEIR ORIGINAL COLORATION.
The gas pump nozzle is free of any scuffs, "nibbles," or chews. It's perfect!
To accompany this great play base, I've included the following accessories:
1 HTF garage lift w/litho (MINT-- while the crank moves the lift up and down, it sometimes "hitches" or is difficult to run; I will be correcting this during the cleaning process. It will work smoothly after I finish cleaning it;
1 RARE blue/white single seat car with Fisher Price written on the hood and wheels of the car (EXC--the wheel caps appear a little dull and one tire exhibits a small "ding;" the "ding" does not interfere with the car's movements; I believe the wheel caps will brighten up considerably following an application of Naval Jelly and a gentle buffing; once this is done, this car will warrant an EXC+++ rating);
1 VHTF green/white single seat car with Fisher Price written on the hood and wheels of the car (NEAR MINT-MINT---once again, the wheel caps are somewhat dull and I'll be polishing them with Naval Jelly);
1 VHTF red/white single seat car with Fisher Price written on the hood and wheels (NEAR MINT-MINT); and
1 VHTF yellow/white single seat car with Fisher Price being written on the hood but not on the wheels (EXC-surface scratches on the rims of the tires and the underneath surface of the car itself).
Check out the vibrant colors on all of these cars. They have led a "charmed" life with no fading, abrasions, scuffs etc. It's hard to believe these cars are 46 years young!
The 1970 version of the Garage originally came with the following ALL WOOD Little People:
1 VHTF, blue bodied girl with blonde bangs and pig tails (MINTY MINT);
1 RARE, green bodied boy with red heat stamped hair and metal rivet (NEAR MINT--couple of teensy black marks on boy's shoulder; I believe these will come off during the cleaning process);
1 RARE, yellow bodied frowning boy with freckles and red cap facing forwards (VG+-- nibbles on cap brim; also some twisting of front brim away from rest of cap with a 1/16"L tear on the left edge of the hat brim; I will be reinforcing this hat brim with either Rubber Cement or Krazy Glue); and
1 RARE, red bodied, African American boy with black heat stamped hair (MINTY MINT---check out the glossy color of his body paint).
This remarkable set also comes complete with its original, EXTREMELY RARE cardboard Service Van. This is the first one of these I've ever personally seen in over 16 years of buying and selling vintage Fisher Price play sets. This Service Van was only produced for one year. It housed the garage lift, all the single seater cars, and the wooden Little People. Most of these cardboard Service Vans disappeared over the years or were severely damaged. This one is in MINTY MINT condition. Check out my photos---it's GORGEOUS!
In addition, this set comes with its original outer box. Despite the presence of some tears on the flaps along with one on the top and lower right hand corners of the front of the box, some extraneous masking tape and clear tape, some rubs, some creasing, and some writing on the underneath side of the box, this box is imminently displayable. It possesses all of its exterior and original inner cardboard flaps. On a scale from 1-10 with 10 being perfect, I would rate this box as being an 8/10.0.
I WILL BE Q-TIP CLEANING THIS PLAY SET AND ALL OF ITS ACCESSORIES PRIOR TO SENDING IT ON TO ITS NEW OWNERS. I SPEND ANYWHERE FROM 1 1/2---5 1/2 HOURS CLEANING EACH AND EVERY VINTAGE FISHER PRICE PLAY SET THAT I SELL--EXCEPT FOR THOSE CLEARLY MARKED IN MY ROUGH ROOM. My play sets are IMMACULATE!
NOTE: THIS VINTAGE FISHER PRICE PLAY SET IS NOT PART OF THE RECENT RECALL OF FISHER PRICE TOYS MANUFACTURED IN CHINA. THIS VINTAGE TOY WAS PRODUCED IN THE GOOD OLD U.S.A. 46 YEARS AGO.
FISHER PRICE DESIGNED THIS SET FOR CHILDREN AGES 2-10 YEARS OF AGE. IT SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN TO CHILDREN UNDER 2 YEARS OF AGE OR TO THOSE CHILDREN WHO ARE STILL MOUTHING THEIR TOYS. ADULT SUPERVISION IS SUGGESTED UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES.
This set weighs approximately 8 lbs, 10 oz. UNWRAPPED. My zip code is 47905 (INDIANA). Due to its size, it will require an over-sized box. I will probably be shipping this set via Fed Ex Home Delivery. I will need a residential address, not a P.O. Box, and a contact phone number (e.g. home, cell, or work place) to complete Fed Ex's paperwork. Otherwise, they will not accept the package for shipment.
