Vintage Fisher Price Play Family
#991 3 Car Circus Train
Complete + Bonus
EXC--EXC++ (Q)

"Lions, and tigers, and bears, Oh my!" Well, there aren't any tigers but there are a number of winsome circus animals in this complete, vintage Fisher Price #991 3 Car Circus Train play set. Manufactured between 1979-86, this CLASSIC play set is in EXC-EXC++ condition and comes with its original pull string.
Composing this DELIGHTFUL play set are:
1 engine with original pull string that heartily "toots" when the train whistle is pressed (VG++-EXC--the ONLY "imperfections" I can detect are: four, intermittent. hair-line vertical creases on both engine lithos; both lithos exhibit a couple of minor, pin-head size rubs/tears with the tear on the bottom edge of the right-hand side litho being more prominent. both lithos have retained their bright coloration. The engine's plastic surfaces are incredibly VIBRANT and SHINE. I do not discern any breaks, cracks, discolorations, or chips etc. on any of the plastic surfaces. There are some faint surface scratches and a few "dings"---especially on the front and back edges of the engine; however, these do not detract from the overall appearance or functioning of this set. The wheels are free of "any road wear." The connecting hitch is free of any teeth marks; the pull string possesses numerous "nibbles");
1 HTF green cage car door that converts to a ramp to let the animals depart (EXC- EXC++- all of the bars are intact without any cracks or stress fractures being detected; the lithos on this car are clean, generally intact, and brightly colored. The only "imperfections" I can spot are some teensy bubbles and two, minor horizontal creases on the litho on the opposite side of the car with the fold-down door as well as a couple of vertical creases and two scratches on the lion litho on the cage door side of the train car. While the scratches do permeate the litho, they are basically invisible because of their location on the litho. All in all, the lithos are among the BEST lithos I've ever seen on one of these cage cars. The interior floor and a few bars of the cage car display some light surface scratching and an occasional scuff or "ding"; the wheels display minimal "road wear;" the hook connectors at the end of the car presents with two, shallow indentations; these are extremely hard to spot; the circle hitch is perfect and totally free of any "nibbles;" the ramp's handle is devoid of any scuffing while the bolts on the top of the cage car displays some darkening with age; I believe a generous application of Naval Jelly will help brighten these bolts);
1 HTF red caboose (VG++-EXC--both lithos are intact with robust coloration and some minor edge wear; one litho demonstrates some small - moderate size bubbles, and the other litho exhibits a hairline crease; the wheels exhibit light "road wear;" the major "imperfection" is some minor edge wear on the edges of the platform and stair steps at both ends of the caboose; the circle hitch has one, 1/8" L x 1/16" W indentation on it; I'm not sure whether this was caused by a child's tooth or not);
1 HTF blue elephant (EXC-EXC++---bold facial features; ears and tail intact; one ear shows two, pin-head size indentations and a scuff; all joints, with the exception of the right front leg, are firm; the latter joint is loose; elephant boasts a glossy coat with minimal darkening on the its trunk due to age; there are a few, tiny stray red and blue marks on the elephant's trunk; hopefully, these will come off during the cleaning process; one scratch and some edge wear on white toe nails);
1 HTF lion with chocolate brown mane and circle on belly (NEAR MINT--minor rub to nose; tail intact and free of chews; joints are firm);
1 VHTF monkey with tail (NEAR MINT-- complete tail with NO CHEWS; all joints move easily but are not floppy; minimal edge wear to both feet; this monkey is AWESOME!!!!);
1 HTF grey bear (EXC++--NO CHEWS ANYWHERE; all joints are tight; some wear on oval on tummy);
1 VHTF tall, PLASTIC blue engineer w/high angled cap and orange scarf (MINT);
1 HTF, short, PLASTIC, red bodied clown w/yellow pointed hat (NEAR MINT---some slight "roughness" on the top of a few scallops on the clown's hat; these do not appear to have been caused by some child's errant tooth); and
1 HTF, short, black bodied ringmaster with mustache and top hat (EXC++--light rub on right eye and some fading on right side of mustache; edge of hat brim feels a little "rough;" don't see any "nibbles").
To add to the hilarity of this Circus Train, I have inserted two more clowns:
1 RARE, short, PLASTIC, orange bodied Western Rodeo Clown w/yellow scarf and + eyes (MINT); and
1 HTF, short, PLASTIC, lime green bodied clown with royal blue top hat and white ruffled collar (MINT).
THIS set would make a fabulous gift for some lucky child or beginning Fisher Price Collector!
I've tried to be as thorough and honest about this set as I can. I'd rather be "nit-picky" than have someone disappointed in what they were purchasing.
I WILL BE THOROUGHLY Q-TIP CLEANING THIS PLAY SET AND ALL OF ITS ACCESSORIES PRIOR TO SENDING IT TO ITS NEW OWNER. I SPEND A MINIMUM OF 1 - 1 1/2 HOURS CLEANING EACH AND EVERY VINTAGE PLAY SET THAT I SELL. MY SETS ARE IMMACULATE!
NOTE: THIS VINTAGE FISHER PRICE PLAY SET IS NOT PART OF THE RECENT FISHER PRICE RECALL FOR TOYS MANUFACTURED IN CHINA. THIS VINTAGE TOY WAS PRODUCED IN THE GOOD OLD U.S.A.
DUE TO SOME SMALL PARTS, THIS PLAY SET SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN TO CHILDREN UNDER 3 YEARS OF AGE OR TO THOSE CHILDREN WHO ARE STILL MOUTHING THEIR TOYS. ADULT SUPERVISION IS SUGGESTED UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES.
