Vintage Fisher Price Play Family
#994 Camper
Complete/ EXC-EXC++ (L)

Picture
Ready to hit the road for the Holidays?  Here's a darling Fisher Price Little People #994 Play Family Camper (1975 version) that is 100% COMPLETE! This play set is a CLASSIC Fisher Price toy and one that all Fisher Price collectors covet. When you push the camper, it makes a motor sound and the people in the front seat bounce up and down. The camper home detaches from the pick-up truck and the rowboat fits on top of the camper's sunroof. While it's pull string is intact, it has been shortened at some time.  I can detect a few "nibbles" on the string.  In its original condition, I would consider this Camper to be in VG+-VG++ condition.  With the addition of some interior replacement lithos, I would rate this set as being in EXC-EXC++ condition.

The EXTERIOR lithos of the TRUCK are intact but display a few "imperfections."  Specifically, these include the following:

1.  One, barely perceptible scrape on the right -hand side truck litho; I found this via touch; and
2.  Four, intermittent, thin, vertical creases on both the right and left hand truck lithos; these are basically invisible unless you hold the truck up close to your eyes and rotate it in the light.

The EXTERIOR Camper lithos are generally in great condition (EXC).  The only "imperfections" I can detect are:
1.  Some light soiling on the left-hand Camper litho; and
2.  Some minor edge wear, along with a rub/displacement of the upper edge of the left-hand Camper litho.

The INTERIOR Camper lithos evidence some major wear.  Noted "imperfections" include:
1.  Considerable soiling on both counter top lithos;
2.  Several sizeable scrapes on the floor litho;
3.  Some tape residue on the floor litho; and
4.  Several extraneous marks on the floor litho.

I do not want any of my customers to be disappointed by their purchases from me.  I doubt if these INTERIOR Camper litho flaws will be rectified during the cleaning process. I've taken numerous photos of both the EXTERIOR and INTERIOR lithos for your inspection.

NOTE: As a result of the condition of the interior Camper lithos, I will be offering replacement or reproduction lithos for its floor and both counter tops. I'm offering these free of charge to the buyer. I do not apply these replacement lithos myself because I don't want potential buyers to think I routinely sell "doctored" sets. I offer these replacement lithos purely as a service to my buyers. These reproduction lithos are the finest replacement lithos out there. The lady that makes these lithos is in Canada and has been making these for over 9 years. She uses a heavy duty True-Block paper with a peel off sticky back along with a professional grade printer. She calibrates her printer to match a set of unused, vintage FP lithos she procured from a former FP employee. These replacement lithos are as close as you can come to the real deal. Her replacement lithos are water resistant. You may see other competitors out there. However, the ink on their lithos is not water resistant and the paper is of inferior quality.  It's totally up to the buyer if they wish to take advantage of this offer. All the buyer needs to do is peel off the sticky back on the reproduction litho and apply it to the clean, plastic surface. That's it! If the buyer requests, I would be happy to apply these replacement lithos for them.  With these replacement lithos, this set would easily garner an EXC-EXC++ rating.

The INTERIOR BOAT litho is in NEAR MINT-MINT condition.  The bottom of the boat exhibits light surface scratches and two isolated scratches. I may be able to minimize the surface scratches via an application of Armor All wipes and a gentle buffing; however, the two isolated scratches will still be evident.  In any event, these "imperfections"  DEFINITELY do not detract from the overall appearance of the boat while it is in play or on display.

The plastic surfaces of the truck and camper have generally retained their original colors. The red plastic tires exhibit little, if any, "road wear." Noted "imperfections" consist of the following:

1.  Some moderate scuffing on the upper rails on the truck bed; some of these may buff out following a generous application of Armor All Wipes; however, I do not believe all of these will be eliminated during the cleaning process;
2.  Some moderate scuffing on the outer portions of the truck's "roll bar;
3.  A handful of "dings," along with some scuffs and scratches on the truck bed and the front corners of the dashboard; and
3.  Some mild-moderate soiling on both the truck's and camper's plastic surfaces.  This soiling should be eliminated during the cleaning process.

The Camper bunk beds possess approximately 65% of their original foam.  This foam, however, is disintegrating due to age.  I will be inserting some replacement foam in lieu of the original foam. I have included some photos of this foam for your inspection. This new foam is firm and cut to fit the four individual beds.  I will not be gluing these in place so the buyer will be able to remove them if they wish to use something else.  In my opinion, the plastic surfaces of both the truck and camper warrant an EXC++ rating.

Accompanying this wonderful set are the following accessories:

1 HTF red table with hot dog litho (EXC++--one, pin-head size tear on the edge of the litho at one end of the table);

1 VHTF red patio table with yellow umbrella (VG++--some darkening of the spring; this should improve with an application of Naval Jelly; once some of this darkening is removed, this umbrella table will deserve an EXC-EXC++ rating; all of the scallops are intact and free of any cracks or repairs);

1 HTF red grill (VG++-someone appears to have outlined the edge of the litho in black marker (not me); there is also some minor wear around the lower edge of the grill itself);

1 RARE red ladder (EXC++-some scuffs and scratches);

4 HTF red captain's chairs with triangles on the back of the chairs (VG+++--minor edge wear on the front edge of two of the seats; two are in VG-VG+ condition with a small melt mark being detected on the inner edge of one seat with the other seat showing a black mark on the back of the chair; NOTE:  these are the darker red chairs that match the table instead of the bright red captain's chairs);

1 HTF yellow motorcycle (VG++-EXC--a couple of minor scuffs on the handle bar);

1 HTF white potty (VG+-VG++--several scratches and tiny indentations on the toilet lid; some darkening of the toilet itself; I'm confident this will lighten considerably with a good soaking in bleach);

and 1 HTF white single sink (VG+-VG++--many surface scratches and some darkening; this piece will profit from a 24 hour soaking in bleach).

The set also includes 4 plastic Little People and 1 ALL PLASTIC LUCKY:

1 HTF, tall, WOOD/plastic, green bodied Dad with black heat-stamped hair (MINTY MINT);

1 VHTF, WOOD/plastic, yellow bodied boy with red cap facing forward, freckles, smile (MINTY MINT);

1 HTF, WOOD/plastic, tall, blue bodied Mom with blonde pony (EXC--tiny scrape on underneath side of head; not noticeable at all);

1 VHTF, WOOD/plastic, red bodied girl with bobbed blonde hair w/bangs (EXC--some edge wear on the middle and bottom of the piece); and

1 ALL PLASTIC, Lucky, the dog, with red collar (MINTY MINT).

I've tried to be as thorough and honest about this set as I can. All in all, this is a GREAT play set for a beginning Fisher Price collector or some lucky child.

I will be thoroughly Q-tip cleaning this play set using a variety of cleaning products: Q-tips, toothpicks, a child's tooth brush, Dawn, Soft Scrub, Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser, Goo Gone, Clorox Bleach etc. I spend a minimum of 1 1/2 hours cleaning every play set I sell (except for those clearly marked as being in My Rough Room).  My sets are IMMACULATE!

REMEMBER, this VINTAGE Fisher Price play set is NOT included in the recent Fisher Price recall of toys manufactured in China. This play set was manufactured in the good ole' U.S.A. in 1975!!!! It's 42 years young and still personifies Fisher Price's reputation for imaginative, durable toys.

This toy represents the "GOLDEN AGE" of Fisher Price toys---when kids could be kids and exercise their own imaginations instead of sitting there passively and watching a toy do everything for them. Open up the windows of your child's or grandchild's minds and watch them soar! I guarantee this toy will keep them actively engaged in play for hours:)

Purchasers should refrain from allowing children under 3 years of age to play with these toys without adult supervision or to offer these toys to children who may be still mouthing their toys.

This set weighs approximately 2 1/2 -3 lbs. UNWRAPPED. My zip code is 47905 (INDIANA).
