Play Family
#2500 Mainstreet
Complete with Mail/ EXC (D)

I'm probably showing my age here....But do you remember small town Americana where everybody knew your name, your parents, where you lived etc.? Here is a salute to yesteryear before all the big time malls of today---a WONDERFUL Fisher Price Mainstreet play set (#2500). Manufactured between 1986-89, this set is 100% COMPLETE and in EXC condition! The play set contains all of its original accessories including the RARE 7 pieces of mail!
The play base consists of two levels, along with a backdrop, depicting the various shops and city services available in small town. The levels are connected by two blue driving ramps.
The EXTERIOR lithos are all intact with no stains, tears, rubs, soiling, or marks being discerned. All of the EXTERIOR lithos possess rich, full bodied color. After closely scrutinizing this piece, I can only find the following imperfections:
1. Two, tiny bubbles and two, intermittent hair-line vertical creases on the Fire House litho;
2. One, scratch on the Market litho; this scratch has not permeated the litho; you can only see it if you hold the base up within 3" of your eyes and rotate it in the light;
3. One, hair-line vertical crease on the Ice Cream litho;
4. Some minor edge wear on the upper margin of the Bank litho;
5. Three, barely perceptible hair-line creases on the Mart litho; and
6. A smattering of bubbles, ranging in size from 1/8" L x 1/16" to 5/8" L x 1/4" W, along with two, intermittent vertical hair-line creases, some edge wear, and a prominent rub on the upper margin of the backstop litho.
The INTERIOR lithos are in NEAR MINT condition. The only "flaw" I can ascertain is a tiny, gray mark to the left of the fire pole on the fireman litho. I doubt that this mark will come off during the cleaning process.
All moving pieces work as designed (all doors open and close, as does the man hole cover to the fire station). The fire station alarm bell rings, the Ice Cream Parlor's front gate opens and closes when appropriate, and the Bank Teller's window easily operates when the yellow button is pushed.
Other than some soiling, the plastic surfaces are in remarkable condition (NEAR MINT- MINT). The plastic surfaces are vivid in color and devoid of any breaks, chips, cracks, repairs, "dings," abrasions, or discolorations.
Similarly, the blue ramps are in NEAR MINT-MINT condition.
This DELIGHTFUL set contains a myriad of wonderful accessories. They include:
1 HTF small firetruck with working extension ladder (VG+-VG++--some light surface scratches, especially where the extendable ladder turns on its platform; also some rust on the firetruck's wheel hubs; hopefully, I will be able to remove most of this using a generous application of Naval Jelly);
1 mail truck with open sunroof ( EXC-- wheel hubs are a little dull; once again, I believe these will brighten with an application of Naval Jelly; also, there is a hair-line crack coursing across the bottom of the passenger seat; I will be repairing this with Krazy Glue so that it does not progress; the rest of this piece is wonderful condition---bright colors and shiny);
1 VHTF all yellow taxi (NEAR MINT--MINT);
1 VHTF working traffic light (NEAR MINT---I can't tell for sure, but there may be a couple of teensy "nibbles" on the red knob on the top of the traffic light; I've held this piece up to within 3" of my eyes and rotated it in the light; I can't see any chews but my finger nails seem to detect some uneven spots on this knob);
1 yellow telephone booth (MINT);
1 yellow parking meter (MINTY MINT);
1 mailbox (EXC--some light surface scratches and a blue mark on the back side of the piece; I don't know if this will come off during the cleaning process or not);
1 red fire hydrant (MINTY MINT);
1 red stop sign (MINTY MINT);
1 RARE barricade (EXC+++-NEAR MINT--minor edge wear to black trim);
and 7 RARE pieces of MAIL! These consist of the following:
#1 Bank (EXC--several light surface scratches along with a couple of tiny "nibbles");
#2 Market (EXC--a few light surface scratches; also some possible "nibbles" on the back side of this piece);
#3 Fire House (EXC++-NEAR MINT --a few faint surface scratches);
#4 Ice Cream Parlor (VG++--multiple surface scratches; letters have not been impacted);
#5 Post Office (NEAR MINT);
#6 Barber (EXC--a few light surface scratches paired with several indentations (probably "nibbles") on the back side of the piece);
#7 Pet Shop (VG++---generalized surface scratching; light nibbles).
This offering also contains 5 ALL PLASTIC figures originally associated with this playset. They are:
1 HTF green bodied grocer with white molded hair, glasses, and apron (MINT);
1 short, blue bodied mailman with cap (EXC+++-- some roughness on front edge of hat brim, back of cap, and middle of piece; I don't see any "nibbles;"
1 HTF fireman with white hat and arms and smile (MINT);
1 VHTF coral bodied Mom with blonde bun (MINTY MINT); and
1 HTF short, green bodied girl with blonde scrulpted hair (MINTY MINT).
This is an WONDERFUL set---one sure to delight an avid Fisher Price Collector or some lucky child!
I will be thoroughly Q-tip cleaning this base, ramps, and all of its accessories before forwarding it on to its new owners. I use a variety of cleaning products (e.g. Dawn, Goo Gone, Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser, Crayon Away, Soft Scrub etc.) along with toothpicks, a child's toothbrush, a child's paintbrush etc.) to clean every nook and cranny of each playset. I spend a MINIMUM of 1 - 1 1/2 hours cleaning each VINTAGE Fisher Price playset I sell (except for the ones in MY ROUGH ROOM). You can count on not having to do anything but open the package when it arrives.
NOTE: THIS VINTAGE FISHER PRICE PLAYSET IS NOT PART OF THE RECENT FP RECALL FOR TOYS MANUFACTURED IN CHINA. THIS VINTAGE TOY WAS PRODUCED IN THE GOOD OLD U.S.A. (EAST AURORA, NY).
