Vintage Playmobil #5300
Victorian Mansion
99.9% Complete/ NEAR MINT!
(retired) (J)

Here is a real TREASURE for your perusal---the CLASSIC, Vintage Playmobil #5300 Large Victorian Mansion!!! This set was one of the most cherished play offerings Playmobil ever crafted. When I say "crafted," I mean exactly that. The detail on this dollhouse is beyond compare---down to its flower boxes, chimney cap, basement grates, curtains, blinds, railings, wall paper, pictures etc. Manufactured between 1989/90--1995, most of these sets have been kept by their original owners and have not been offered up for resale. To find one of these in this condition (NEAR MINT) and 99.9% complete is almost like finding the Holy Grail.
I painstakingly examined and tallied each and every piece of this set. Most of these houses are missing multiple gold finials on the dormers, door handles, wall fillers, railings, roof pieces, flowers, window boxes, roof pieces, pictures, and/or stair well covers. I have done all the work for you. I have replaced all of the missing pieces (e.g. both sun windows, the front steps, several basement grates, multiple flower boxes along with their flower box fillers, green flower stems, and flowers, one staircase along with its long and short staircase railings and stair cover, a couple of structural T-wall connectors, two tan round columns to hold up the balcony, a gold finial, some wall fillers, seven pictures, the correct family members and their accessories, 1 gray foundation connector). At present, this offering possesses all of its structural components and decorative elements. It also includes a xeroxed copy of the instructions. The only missing items are Dad's white spats, its original box, and poster. That's it!
I have gone over this set with a "fine tooth comb." Both windows are stark white. NOTE: My photos do not do these sun windows justice. I was trying to take these photos while abundant sunlight was coming into the room and I had problems adjusting my camera to capture how white these sun windows are. Many of these sun windows have yellowed over time or are a creamy white. This is common with these old sets---especially if they have been positioned near windows and exposed to excess sun light. The wall paper is free of any sticker residue, marks, and tears (MINT). The new owners will need to procure some small, two-sided wall tape (e.g. like students use in their dorm rooms) or two-sided circle stickers (available at Staples) to position the pictures on the walls as the original tape have disappeared. Everything else is PRISTINE. The plastic surfaces are free of any fading, cracks, breaks, chips etc. The doors and windows all open and the stairways may be inserted, removed, and their openings covered to create additional play space. This is DEFINITELY an heirloom quality set!
I cannot stress enough that this is an incredibly detailed and massive play set (e.g. the house when assembled is approximately 27" L x 14" W x 26" H). Designed for children ages 4 years old and up, the figures and accessories are all proportioned to their real-life counterparts. Playmobil also manufactured a number of add-on Victorian sets to outfit this Mansion. I have several of these for sale on this set and others in stock that have not yet been listed. Once again, this listing is for the Mansion itself, the Mansion's family, all of the Victorian pictures, the stair well covers, the curtains and their hardware etc. This does not include any of the "add on" #5300 Victorian play sets. I will be listing some of them below.
Since their founding 40 years ago, Playmobil toys have been renowned world-wide for their high quality, durability, attention to detail, and the extendibility of their underlying toy system. All figures are scaled to fit in a child's hand with add-on accessories (e.g. hats, skirts, aprons, collars, scarves, armor, headresses, shoes, sandals, stethoscope, jewelry etc.) lending authenticity to the different characters involved. The jointed figures are able to clasp items in their hands and move about through "child power." A wide assortment of "add-on" sets featuring vehicles, animals, furniture, and buildings are realistically scaled according to their "real-life" equivalents and reflect actual life scenarios.
As indicated previously, the manufacturer designed this set for children ages 4 years and up; however, my daughter, who never mouthed her toys and was advanced for her age, received the Playmobil #5300 Victorian Mansion at 2 1/2 years of age. She played with this set up until she was 13 years of age. Talk about "getting a bang out of your buck." Now, at 30 years of age, she has given me strict instructions not to sell her set---she wants to save it for her future children. In general, though, adult supervision is highly recommended for children under 3-4 years of age.
FYI, all of Playmobil's play sets revolve around established "themes" familiar to young children (e.g. Medieval Castles and Knights, Pirates, Western Forts, Native Americans, Trains, Stage Coaches, Gold Mines, Circuses, Zoos, Victorian Mansions, Fairy Tale Castles, Sherwood Forest, Construction, Doctors and Dentists' Offices, Hospitals, Airports, Modern Homes etc.). Due to the level of detail, children's imaginations are afforded endless open-ended play opportunities. Not only do these toys broaden a child's imagination, creativity, attention, and use of elaborate oral narratives, they also facilitate a child's cooperative and dramatic play skills and fine motor capabilities. These toys conform to the highest production standards of quality and safety in accordance with European and American safety guidelines. The toys, while primarily manufactured in Germany, also are produced in Malta and Spain. They are distributed in more than 70 countries throughout the world.
I can vouch for the high quality and play value these toys afford. Several of them were employed in school diorama projects. What a lifesaver! I also used them with my preschool and school aged clients for speech-language therapy. They'd be great for families that are home-schooling their children.
I will be thoroughly Q-tip cleaning each and every piece of this Mansion, its decorations, and accessories and steaming its curtains before shipping it to its new owner. My sets are IMMACULATE. All the new owner has to do is unpack the set, consult the step-by-step detailed instructions, and assemble this stunning set.
Don't miss out on this INCREDIBLE play set! The mansion alone weighs 23.4 lbs. UNWRAPPED and my location is Lafayette, IN (47905).
Due to the size and weight of this package (23 lbs.), I will not be able to ship this set out of the United States. The shipping costs would be astronomical (e.g. well over $200). I plan on shipping this set partially assembled and inside its original box. I will be swaddling this set in bubble wrap and padding it securely. The set will be fully insured and I will be sending it via either the USPS PRIORITY, UPS Ground, or FED EX Home Delivery. In order to ship any of these carriers, I MUST have a residential address and a contact phone number (e.g. home, cell, work place). Otherwise, Fed Ex will not accept the package for delivery.
