Vintage Fisher Price Little People
#2582 Marina
Complete/ NEAR MINT (E)
Looking for a place to dock your boat? Here for your consideration is a Fisher Price Little People Floating Marina (#2582). Produced from 1988-1990, this set consisted of 9 play pieces which could be used on the floor or in a tub or pool. It was designed for children between 2-6 years of age.
Toys subjected to water play frequently exhibited eroded lithos, hard water stains, or leached out coloring. This particular play set apparently escaped such a fate. Its litho and overall plastic coloration boast their original brilliant hues. The only thing I can find amiss is a little edge wear on the upper right hand corner of the Little Marina Floating Marina litho. All in all, I would categorize this set as being in NEAR MINT condition!
Upon close inspection, I cannot detect any chips, cracks, breaks, or discolorations. This base is in FABULOUS condition! There are only a few surface scratches on the bottom of the Marina. This is highly unusual.
All moving parts are present and operate as designed. The orange diving board pulls out for a quick swim and recedes for storage, the gas pump retains its original nozzle and cord, the boat lift handily swings the boats into the water, the "light" in the light house swivels when rotated and propels the characters down a chute in the lighthouse into the "water," the green garage door and side door easily open and close. The gas nozzle is completely free of any scuffs or "nibbles." THIS IS A DARLING SET!!!!
Besides the exceptional play base detailed above, the set includes:
1 VHTF crystal clear revolving "light" for the lighthouse (EXC++-NEAR MINT---some soiling which will be alleviated during the cleaning process);
1 VHTF orange float plane (EXC++--some light surface scratches on the underneath side of the pontoons);
1 HTF red/white Captain's boat (VG++-EXC--missing middle "spoke" of captain's wheel; also a couple of minor scuffs on the underneath side of the boat);
1 orange dingy (VG+--some scuffing and fading on the bottom of the boat; I might be able to brighten up the scuffs with an application of Armor All);
1 RARE yellow life preserver (NOT SHOWN; since taking these photos, I have procured a MINTY life preserver to accompany this set; you will be receiving it with this offering);
1 VHTF yellow bodied boy with brown sculpted hair (MINT);
1 HTF Marina Captain with white beard (NEAR MINT--small amount of roughness on the front of hat brim; there are NO CHEWS on the hat brim); and
1 HTF short, green bodied girl with blonde bob (MINT).
This is a GREAT set for an avid Fisher Price COLLECTOR or child alike. This would make an INCREDIBLE gift for some lucky child---perhaps to play with at Grandma's house?
THIS VINTAGE Fisher Price play set is NOT SUBJECT TO THE RECENT RECALL OF NEW FISHER PRICE TOYS MANUFACTURED IN CHINA. THIS PLAY SET WAS PRODUCED IN THE GOOD OLD U.S.A. 30 YEARS AGO.
While Fisher Price claims this set was designed for children ranging in age from 2-6 years, adults should closely monitor any child under 3 years of age or those who are still mouthing their toys due to the presence of small parts.
I will be thoroughly Q-tip cleaning this base and all of its accessories prior to shipping it to its new owner. I spend a MINIMUM of 1 - 1 1/2 hours cleaning each and every VINTAGE Fisher Play play set I sell (except those in my Rough Room section). I use an assortment of cleaning products (e.g. Dawn anti-bacterial dishwashing detergent, Goo Gone, Comet, Soft Scrub, Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser, Naval Jelly, Clorox Bleach Pen, Windex, Armor All wipes etc. etc.) along with Q-tips, tooth picks, a child's toothbrush or paint brush etc. to clean every nook and cranny. For example, I even clean the ceiling of the boathouse, the interior of the garage door, the inside of the light house, and underneath the base. This baby will absolutely SHINE when I'm done cleaning it!
This particular set weighs approximately 3 1/2 lbs. UNWRAPPED. My zip code is 47905 (Lafayette, IN).
