Vintage Fisher Price Pick Up 'N Peek
#514 Merry-Go-Round Puzzle
Near Mint (C)

Here is a wonderful, Vintage Fisher Price Pick Up and Peek #514 Merry-Go-Round wood puzzle. This puzzle consists of 12 pieces, six of which are equipped with a yellow peg. The pegs are designed to help little fingers easily remove the pieces from the puzzle. Manufactured between 1971-72, this puzzle was designed to resemble Fisher Price's Play Family #111 Merry-Go-Round toy.
This puzzle consists of both single and inter-locking pieces. Fisher Price states the puzzle was produced for 3-6 year old children. All of the pieces, when removed, have an underlying litho which coincides with the activities that typically occur in an amusement park. In my opinion, this puzzle is in NEAR MINT condition with only minor edge wear being seen on the top of the Ticket Booth. The only other thing I can find amiss is that the Carousel Operator has a red mark on the back side of his piece. I'm not sure if this is crayon or a marker. I will try and see if I can remove this but at this point, I have no idea if this will work. The colors on the exterior of the puzzle are dazzling. The interior lithos are similarly bold in color with only a few, faint, pin-head size rubs on a few of the lithos. These are extremely hard to detect.
This puzzle was produced in Holland for Fisher Price Toys by the Quaker Oats Co. There are a couple of light brown stains on the left hand side of the back of the puzzle. These, of course, do not detract from the function or appearance of the puzzle itself. This is a FANTASTIC puzzle for early language development, eye/hand coordination, and extending a child's attention span.
This solid wood puzzle exemplifies Fisher Price's reputation for durable, classic toys. The puzzle weighs 1 lb., 4 oz. UNWRAPPED and my location is Lafayette, IN (47905).
