Vintage Fisher Price Little People
#952 Tudor House Complete +
Bonus (Baby with Bib, Nursery,
and Little Riders)
VG+--EXC+++ (L)

Here for your consideration is a vintage, Fisher Price Little People #952 Tudor House. This offering is 100% complete. To expand the number of open-ended play opportunities, I have added a baby and 12 additional nursery and riding toys. (NOTE: I forgot to include a blue airplane and a pink stroller in this photo shoot. You will be receiving the airplane and the stroller. In addition, since I took these picture I replaced the baby with the bonnet and bib with another bib without any "nibbles" or chews. You will be receiving the baby with the yellow bib instead of the one pictured in my photos).
I have repeatedly scanned this Tudor House's EXTERIOR lithos. On close scrutiny, I can discern a couple of light, brown stains, one above the front door, the other on the grass under the back Fisher Price logo, and the others on the outside wall of the garage. I may be able to alleviate these during the cleaning process. Other noted imperfections include a handful of miniscule bubbles under the front and rear gables. Finally, the front of the house displays two, faint, intermittent vertical creases. I'm being super picky here. I didn't notice any of these flaws until I held the base up within 3" of my eyes and rotated it in the light. In general, the original lithos are brightly colored and smoothly adhered to their underlying surfaces. I would gauge the exterior lithos as being in EXC--EXC++ condition.
With the exception of a few small bubbles on the door frame and some small tears and gouges on the blue living room floor, the remaining INTERIOR lithos are in MINT condition. This House has definitely lived a "charmed life!" Taking the tears and gouges on the blue living room floor into consideration, I have lowered my rating of the INTERIOR lithos as being in VG+--EXC condition. With a replacement litho being applied to the living room floor, these INTERIOR lithos would garner a NEAR MINT rating.
NOTE: THESE ARE THE ORIGINAL LITHOS. I DO NOT USE REPLACEMENT LITHOS ON MY SETS. IF A LITHO IS MISSING OR DAMAGED EXTENSIVELY, I OCCASIONALLY OFFER THE BUYER A REPLACEMENT LITHO. HOWEVER, I DO NOT APPLY THESE LITHOS MYSELF. I LEAVE IT TOTALLY UP TO THE DISCRETION OF THE BUYER WHETHER THEY WISH TO UTILIZE THESE. I PROVIDE THESE REPLACEMENT LITHOS AT NO CHARGE TO THE BUYER. FOR THIS SET, I AM OFFERING A REPLACEMENT LITHO FOR BLUE, LIVING ROOM FLOOR LITHO. ONCE THIS REPRODUCTION LITHO IS APPLIED, THE LITHOS ON THIS BASE WILL WARRANT AN EXCELLENT +++--NEAR MINT RATING.
FYI, these reproduction lithos are the finest replacement lithos out there. The lady that makes these lithos is in British Columbia,Canada, and has been making these for over 10 years. She uses a heavy duty True-Block paper with a peel off sticky back along with a professional grade printer. She calibrates her printer to match a set of unused, vintage FP lithos she procured from a former FP employee. These replacement lithos are as close as you can come to the real deal. Her replacement lithos are water resistant. You may see other competitors out there. However, the ink on their lithos is not water resistant and the paper is of inferior quality. All the buyer needs to do is peel off the sticky back on the reproduction litho and apply it to the clean, metal roof. OR IF THE BUYER PREFERS, I WILL REPLACE THE LITHOS FOR YOU.
The plastic surfaces have retained their glossy patina and are free of any scratches, abrasions, chips, "dings," cracks, breaks, or repairs (EXC+++--NEAR MINT). The chimney is free of any fraying but does show a couple of discolorations and a small indentation on one upper corner. I just now discovered the indentation. It doesn't jump out at you but it is there. In my opinion, it does not detract from the Tudor House's overall appearance and/or function. Lastly, there are two faint, black marks on the lower edge of the roof above the garage door. I'm confident these will come off during the cleaning process. To me, the plastic surfaces are in NEAR MINT condition.
The masonite base is fully intact and devoid of any corner damage whatsoever. There is a large black mark on the underside of the masonite base. This appears to have been done by a permanent marker so I'm not going to try to remove it.
In short, this particular base is the "Cadillac" of any other vintage Fisher Price #952 Tudor Houses I've seen in over 21 years!
Other positives I should note:
1. There is no paint loss on the inner margins of the folding house; most of these sets have experienced cracking of the wood or chipping of the paint. These painted surfaces look brand new;
2. There is no cracking on the interior chimney seam;
3. The plastic roof, hinges, garage door, front door, and door bell are all intact and functional.
Along with this remarkable base, I've included the following pieces, all of which are in EXC+++--MINT condition unless otherwise noted:
1 VHTF light orange double bed (VG+--missing original foam due to dry rot; I will be inserting some tan, firm foam to serve as a mattress; I will not be gluing this mattress in place so that the new owner can remove it if they wish; once the new mattress is in place it will warrant an EXC+++--NEAR MINT rating; if you are a Collector of Vintage Fisher Price toys and want to receive the beds with their original foam, please immediately let me know and I will not replace it);
2 VHTF light orange twin beds (both VG+- -both beds are missing their original foam; as described above, I will be inserting some firm, tan foam to serve as mattresses; once again, with these replacement mattresses in place, these beds will be in EXC+++--NEAR MINT condition); if you're a Collector (see above), please notify me immediately if you wish to leave the original foam undisturbed;
1 VHTF light orange coffee table (VG+-VG++--light surface scratches);
2 HTF light orange stuffed chairs;
1 HTF round lime green table (VG++-EXC--light surface scratches);
4 HTF matching lime green captains' chairs; and
1 HTF white/green 2 seater car, with seats front and rear.
The "family" consists of 5 ALL PLASTIC Little People:
1 VHTF tall, green bodied Dad w/black molded hair;
1 tall, blue bodied Mom w/ blonde pony;
1 HYF short, orange bodied boy with brown molded hair;
1 short, red bodied girl with brown sculpted hair;
1 black bodied Snoopy with red collar and links on the collar (there are absolutely no nibbles or chews on his ears!).
FYI: While the original #952 Yellow House included a staircase, Fisher Price omitted the staircase to this set commencing with the 1980 production run. As a result, this offering does NOT include the staircase.
This offering also includes a number of BONUS accessories. These are:
1 HTF plastic baby with yellow bib (NOTE: After taking these photos, I ran across another baby with a yellow bib, but alas with no bonnet; since the baby with the yellow bid is in EXC++ condition and free of any "chews" or" nibbles," that is the one you will be receiving);
1 RARE yellow rocking horse;
1 HTF aqua/pink changing table;
1 HTF pink cradle;
1 HTF aqua play pen;
1 RARE yellow high chair;
1 RARE pink stroller (not pictured but you will receive it);
1 HTF green wagon;
1 VHTF blue airplane (not pictured but you will receive it);
1 HTF green tricycle;
1 HTF red -orange train engine; and
1 HTF orange riding horse (color has faded over time).
They don't make open-ended, durable play sets like this any more. Don't miss out on this one!!!
This set would make a FANTASTIC addition to someone's Fisher Price collection or for some special child to receive. What a RIVETING toy to have at Grandma's house for when the grandkids come to visit!!!!
This would also be an AWESOME toy for a Child Life Specialist, Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist, or Child Psychologist to use with their clients.
REMEMBER, this VINTAGE Fisher Price play set is NOT included in the recent Fisher Price recall of toys manufactured in China. This playset was manufactured in the good ole' U.S.A. in the mid to late 1980's. This set exemplifies Fisher Price's reputation for imaginative, durable toys.
Purchasers should refrain from allowing children under 3 years of age to play with these toys without adult supervision or to offer these toys to children who may be still mouthing their toys.
For those who have been given information that vintage Fisher Price Little People toys are dangerous, I'd like to offer some supplemental and contradicting information that is out there. First of all, Fisher Price products from the 1930's to 1990 were manufactured in the United States. A few of the Fun-with-Food play set components (1988-1990) and a few accessories for some of the later manufactured FP products were produced in Hong Kong. Mattel purchased Fisher Price in 1991 and subsequently shifted all production of FP toys to China.. If you look carefully at some of the information that is out there, problems with cadium being in these and other toys made in China (e.g. girls' jewelry), was discovered around 2007. There were also some other dangerous chemicals found in certain stretch plastic toys (e.g. some Barbies etc.).
The supposed issues regarding lead being in the vintage FP play sets (prior to 1990) has been exaggerated. Yes, some lead was found in the yellow, red, or black paint or plastic of these vintage toys. However, MedMD noted that this lead was not transmitted through the skin (e.g. a child's hand etc. or by just touching the item). In order for it to be a problem, the child had to put the items in their mouth and chew on them. Most of the FP play sets, with the exception of the FP #930 Garage (which was created for 2 year olds and up), were designed for 3 year olds and up. Adult supervision was recommended for children under 3 or for any child that was still mouthing or chewing on their toys. If they're not mouthing or chewing the Little People and their paint or the yellow ramp on the Garage, the toys are safe.

The other big issue that is often reported regarding these vintage Fisher Price toys is that they were removed from the market because they were considered to be a choking hazard. I used to be the Director of Children's Services for two separate, five county developmental disability agencies here in Indiana. I secured a U.S. government issued plastic tube (or choking tube) to test all the toys we had in our agencies. None of these LP would fit through this tube; hence they were safe for a child when supervised and if they were not gnawing or chewing on the toys. I also worked at Texas Children's Hospital (a subsidiary of Baylor College of Medicine) in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, TX, for five years. I saw toddlers and preschoolers from all over the world. We used some of these FP toys with some of our clients. Once again, we never had any problems with them. Finally, I worked as a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist and University Supervisor in Purdue University's Graduate Speech Pathology training program and Purdue University's Child Development and Family Studies Preschool and Daycare classrooms. These vintage FP toys were utilized in all of these settings with no harmful side effects. Once again, they were not introduced to children under 3 or those who were still mouthing or chewing their toys.
SO, in summary, purchasers should refrain from allowing children under 3 years of age to play with these toys without adult supervision or to offer these toys to children who may be still mouthing their toys.
