Vintage Fisher Price Fun-with-Food
#2111 Simmering Saucepan
Complete/ VG++-EXC (L)

" Mmmmm good, Mmmmm good...." Remember that classic soup commercial? Well here is something for your little cook to make his/her own soup. Fisher Price introduced its wildly popular Fun-with-Food series in 1987. Produced for a total of 4 years, the #2111 Simmering Saucepan play set features a see thru pan with water and seasonings trapped inside the walls of the pan. When shaken, the particles and liquid move about to simulate a realistic boiling action. This great little saucepan requires no batteries or heat. In my opinion, the saucepan is in VG++-EXC condition. Note: This is the 1989-90 version of this set. The original 1987 version did not contain the blue bowl or white spoon. Later 1989 and 1990 versions included both of these. I have configured this offering to conform with the 1989-90 Fisher Price specifications.
1 HTF Simmering Saucepan (VG++-EXC--fluid level between the clear walls may be slightly lower than when originally manufactured; at present, I'm guessing it's approximately 1/2" in depth; I'm not sure what the original depth was);
Other accessories accompanying this MAGICAL set are:
1 HTF Alphabet Soup Can with litho ( EXC--one extended crease at bottom of litho on one side; otherwise, in EXC++ condition);
1 RARE orange plastic lid for the Alphabet Soup Can (VG+-VG++--numerous scratches, a few scuffs, and a couple of indentations; while some of these may have been caused by a child's errant tooth, the others may have been created by a child using Fisher Price's Pop-Top Can Opener set; NOTE: these lids usually disappeared over time; it's rare to find a container with its original lid);
5 RARE strands of alphabet soup letters which store inside the aforementioned can; these come in all different colors and with different letter combinations (EXC++- MINT; the groupings and colors are as follows: light green A,B, C--NEAR MINT--has one pin- head size ink mark on B; this may or may not come off during te cleaning process; yellow D, E, F --MINT; white G, H, I --NEAR MINT--couple of faint scratches; have to literally be holding this piece to up within 3" of your eyes and rotating it in the light to spot these; extremely hard to see; dark green J, K, L (EXC--couple of barely perceptible teeth marks on the J); orange X, Y, Z (MINT-- NOTE: I don't know what I've done here; I have around 6-7 of these sets in stock; somehow, I managed to switch out the alphabet letters with another set; the result is that the colors of the letters in the photos do not match my description; my apologies; please go with my written description to ascertain the letter groupings color and condition);
1 VHTF red-orange ladle with Fisher Price on the handle (MINT);
1 RARE red-orange pepper shaker (MINT);
1 RARE yellow salt shaker (MINT);
1 RARE blue bowl marked Fisher Price on the bottom (VG++--some darkening of the blue color due to age along with some surface scratches);
1 HTF white spoon with flower embellishment on the handle and Fisher Price imprinted on the back of the handle (MINT); and
1 RARE blue, yellow, purple, red, and green striped pot holder (EXC-three pin-head size holes in middle of hot pad; once again, you have to be holding e hot pad up to the light to spot these; NOTE: the original FP tag is still present).
This is a darling set and one that any preschool youngster would love to own. Fisher Price designed this set for children ages 3-7 years of age. Children under 3 years of age or still mouthing their toys should probably not be given this toy. Adult supervision is suggested if this set is given to children under 3 years of age.
NOTE: This play set is not a part of the recent recall of Fisher Price toys manufactured in China. The Alphabet Can and lid, pot holder, and sauce pan were all produced in the good ole' U.S.A. The alphabet soup strands and the orange ladle were manufactured in Korea. I could not discern a country of origin for the salt and pepper shakers; however, Fisher Price didn't start outsourcing to a large degree to other countries until after Mattel purchased the company in the early 1990's. The items contained in this set were manufactured by Fisher Price, a division of Quaker Oats; thus, they were not created in China.
I will be thoroughly Q-tip cleaning this play set and all of its accessories prior to sending it to its new owners. My play sets are IMMACULATE!
