Vintage Fisher Price Fun-with-Food
#2118 McDonald's Soda Fountain
99.9% Complete/ EXC++ (E)
Who screams for ice cream?" Well, I scream for ice cream. I can't count the number of times my husband or I have taken a quick trip to Culver's to get some of their butter pecan ice cream! What would it be like to have your own Soda Fountain that also dispenses ice cream yet doesn't put any extra inches on your hips? Well, here for your consideration is an AWESOME play set...a Vintage Fisher Price Fun with Food #2118 McDonalds Soda Fountain! Manufactured between 1989-90, this set is INCREDIBLY hard to find in this condition (EXC++), and with all of its original pieces except one set of ice cubes.
This set is composed of the following:
1 VHTF all plastic McDonald's soda and ice cream dispenser base with lithos (EXC++--other than some soiling and edge wear on the main McDonald's litho, this set is in great condition). When you shove the red bar to the right, the ice cream dispenser rotates and drops a large scoop of ice cream into a plastic dish or cone. Pulling down on either of the red levers causes a pretend "milkshake" or "soda" to pour into a McDonald's cup; dropping a set of ice cubes down the blue door on top of the "machine" ferries the ice into the customer's soft drink; children are mesmerized by this rotating carousel;
2 VHTF chocolate ice creams (EXC-EXC++--one has a couple of scrapes on the top; these scrapes have not displaced the color; the other has two, tiny indentations--probably due to a child's tooth);
2 HTF vanilla ice cream creams (EXC-EXC++--minor "lump" on the bottom edge on one of the pieces);
1 HTF blue plastic lid to cover the ice cream dispenser (MINT---bright blue coloration);
2 HTF plastic ice cream cones (MINT);
2 VHTF clear plastic ice cream dishes (EXC-EXC++-couple of scuffs and light scratches);
2 RARE coffee cup lids (1 EXC++-NEAR MINT--light scratches on underneath side of lid; other VG++--"notch" or indentation around lower rim of lid; may have been caused by a child's tooth; I'm going to be anchoring this with Krazy Glue so the "notch" doesn't expand);
2 RARE coffee cups with McDonald's logos (EXC --NEAR MINT--one is quite soiled; this should come off during the cleaning process; the other has a tiny rub on the brown square outside of the "McDonald's" logo);
1 set of VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND plastic ice cubes;
2 HTF white plastic Fisher Price spoons (MINT);
1 VHTF strawberry topping for the ice cream (VG++--one, tiny "nibble," and a couple of black marks on the side of the topping; I'm not sure whether these marks will come off during the cleaning process; this is the first time I noticed these); and
1 VHTF chocolate topping for the ice cream (VG+ --several miniscule "nibbles" on the side and near the top of the topping; also a couple of small, black marks; once again, I don't know whether these marks will come off when I clean this set).
This is a TREMENDOUS play set that would please any beginning Fisher Price collector or some lucky child. You'll see many play sets out there that are purportedly complete but this set is 99% complete (only missing one set of ice cubes)! As a former Speech-Language Pathologist, I found this play set to be particularly helpful in working with children with language delays and/or those on the autistic spectrum. This set affords the child realistic restaurant role-playing opportunities which they then can emulate in real life situations. As you know, just about every child in America is familiar with McDonalds and they literally play with this toy for hours!
I will be thoroughly Q-tip cleaning this set using a variety of cleaning products (e.g. Dawn, anti-bacterial dish washing detergent, Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser, Soft Scrub, Goo Gone, Oxi-Clean, Chlorox Bleach Pen etc.). I spend anywhere from 1 1/2 -6 hours cleaning all of my vintage Fisher Price play sets. The only exception is those sets coming from my Rough Room. My sets are IMMACULATE!
The contents of this set, with the exception of the ice cream toppings and spoons, were all produced in the U.S.A. The toppings and spoons were manufactured in Korea.
This set weighs approximately 4 lbs. UNWRAPPED and my location is Lafayette, IN (47905).
I'm more than happy to combine multiple purchases to save the buyer on shipping. All I ask is that the buyer check out and pay for all of their purchases at one time. Otherwise, I get charged multiple PayPal transaction fees.
If possible, I like to ship these vintage Fisher Price sets via Fed Ex Home Delivery. To do so, I must have a contact phone number (e.g. cell, work, or home) to complete their paperwork. Otherwise, they will not accept the package for delivery.
