Vintage Fisher Price Fun-with-Food
#73336 Popcorn Popper and Tray
99% Complete/VG++-EXC (F)

Let's have a party! Here is a super rare Fisher Price Fun-with-Food Poppity Popcorn Party play set. Made for only one year (1998-99), this set is super rare to find, let alone in this condition. The set is 99% complete and includes everything a child might need for a popcorn party. The only thing missing is the small, blue pan that rests on top of the popper to "melt" two pats of butter. Children adore this set as it offers assorted imaginative play opportunities. For example, when the child turns the yellow handle of the popper, the popcorn appears to really "pop" and makes a satisfying popping sound. For safety's sake, everything is contained within the plastic cover so that there is no danger of a child ingesting any of the realistic looking popcorn kernals. Fisher Price advertised this play set as being safe for two year olds and up.
Specific components of this set include:
1 RARE red popcorn popper with a clear plastic dome top and a yellow handle to crank that makes a center yellow button on the bottom of the popper move up and down; this button causes the pretend popcorn to pop (VG++--a few minor scratches on the dome; handle is a little stiff and would probably be hard for a 2 year old to crank; personally, I found it worked much better when I grasped the sides of the yellow circle, that anchored the crank, and moved it instead of the crank handle; I can't figure out why this is so; I even took this piece apart to see if something was impeding the crank; I couldn't detect anything amiss; by holding the sides of the yellow circle, the handle moves freely and the popcorn vigorously pops; a young child would be easily able to activate this piece by using the same procedure); if this handle worked smoothly so that a young child could grip the handle and pop the corn, then this popper would warrant a NEAR MINT rating;
1 RARE double pat of Fisher Price butter (MINT---although this is not shown in my photos, it will be included);
1 RARE clear plastic jar of pretend popcorn kernals that rattles when shaken (MINT--Fisher Price litho is perfect; the green lid on this container is permanently attached so that the children cannot remove any of the kernals; furthermore, the pretend slot in the lid where the children can pretend to shake out the kernals is obstructed by a clear plastic insert; thus, there is no way the child can gain access to these small pieces);
1 RARE red salt shaker that is large at the bottom with a narrow neck; the top of the shaker is round and larger than the neck of the container; the top features some pretend salt holes; the shaker makes a realistic granular sound when it's shaken (MINT);
2 RARE dark blue-green Fisher Price glasses (MINT);
2 RARE sky blue bowls (MINT);
1 RARE can of orange soda with a grey top that has a grey pull -open tab on top; the tab makes a "clicking" sound when pulled; it does not come off and the can doesn't really open; however, the sound is great for pretending that you've really popped open the can; the orange litho on the side of the can is perfect (MINT);
2 RARE bundles of white popped popcorn molded together (MINT);
2 RARE bundles of yellow "buttered" popped popcorn molded together (MINT); and
1 RARE yellow serving tray (NEAR MINT--a few light scratches on the tray) with an attached "remote control" for the TV; the remote's litho exhibits pretend "buttons" marked 1-9 and buttons with arrows pointing up, down, right and left---just like a real remote).
This is a darling set and one that most people have never seen. This is a collector quality play set. It would also be a wonderful set for some lucky child.
Components of this set were manufactured in China for Fisher Price (e.g. butter pat, glasses, popper, bowls etc.). To my knowledge, this set has never been subject to the recall of toys made in China.
This play set weighs 1 lb. 11 oz. UNWRAPPED. My shipping location is Lafayette, IN (47905).
