Vintage Fisher Price My Friend #205 Mikey
New in Box
(C)

Here for your consideration, is a RARE, VINTAGE FISHER PRICE #205 MY FRIEND MIKEY NEW IN BOX! Mikey is the only male doll Fisher Price ever produced as a part of the My Friend doll series. Mikey was only produced for two years (1982-84) and is seldom seen in this condition (NIB). Some historical background, Fisher Price introduced this series of soft bodied dolls in the late 1970's to early 80's. They all featured vinyl limbs, lush, brushable hair, vinyl faces, and easily removable clothes and accessories.
This Mikey has never been removed from his cardboard insert. You can tell this since the plastic wrapper around his head and the ties around his neck have never been altered. While the individual who sold this doll to me reported he had never been removed from his original box, a close examination of the original tape applied at the factory does not appear to support this. To me, it looks as if the tape seal has been broken at one time and someone else resealed the box with another piece of tape. The fact remains, however, he is brand new. His reddish brown hair is styled in a bowl cut. Through clever engineering, Mikey can be posed either in a standing or sitting position. His soft body invites plenty of cuddling and his facial features, replete with a sprinkling of freckles, are endearing to say the least. Since I cannot tell for sure without opening the box, I do not know whether an instruction booklet on the care and maintenance of these My Friend dolls is included in this offering. I will be including a Xeroxed copy of this instruction booklet just in case. Mikey can be washed in the clothes washer and tumble dried in the dryer. In addition, his hair can be shampooed and styled in a variety of ways.
I've tried to include some close-up photos to illustrate how remarkable Mikey really is. Just in case I'm mistaken and he has never been removed from his box, I did not attempt to break the seal or remove his cardboard insert. I did not want to take the chance of damaging the cellophane wrapper cradling his head. I can tell you that all of his original clothes are included. Mikey's outfit consists of a red and white striped knit shirt, a pair of blue "jeans" with patch pockets in front, a light blue cotton jacket with white knit trim, and dark blue sneakers. His clothes are easy to remove or put in place thanks to their velcro closures. I cannot spy any "imperfections" in either his appearance or that of his clothes.
Mikey weighs approximately 2 lbs. UNWRAPPED and my location is Lafayette, IN (47905).
For domestic (mainland deliveries), I'm finding that Fed Ex Home Delivery is running about 33% cheaper than the USPS (including Parcel Post) and UPS Ground. This is especially true for packages weighing in excess of 5 lbs., traveling longer distances, or being shipped in oversized boxes (for the USPS, any dimension over 12" is considered oversized). To ship Fed Ex Home Delivery, I MUST have a residential address, NOT a P.O. Box, and a home or cell phone number. Besides offering free tracking assistance, the Fed Ex quote includes up to $100 worth of FREE insurance. Insurance amounts in excess of $100 may be secured at a nominal fee.
Due to the weight of this item, I'll probably be sending Mikey via Priority Mail.
