Vintage Fisher Price My Friend #217 Jenny NIB (B)

"Little Miss Sunshine. Just seeing her smile is enough to make your day brighter. Here for your consideration, is a RARE, VINTAGE FISHER PRICE #217 MY FRIEND JENNY NEW IN BOX! In the late 1970's to early 80's, Fisher Price introduced a series of soft bodied dolls with vinyl limbs, lush, brushable hair, vinyl faces, and easily removable clothes and accessories. The series, called My Friend dolls, featured 5 doll characters: Mandy, Jenny, Becky, Nicky, and Mikey. Manufactured for only one year (1982-83), this SECOND EDITION Jenny doll is coveted by collectors.
This Jenny has never been played with or removed from her box other than to take
photos. Jenny still exhibits the plastic wrapper around her head and the plastic tie around her neck is still in place. In addition, the plastic tie anchoring her hat on her head is still intact. Her brunette hair is styled in a below shoulder length, full bodied cut. Through clever engineering, Jenny can be posed either in a standing or sitting position. Her soft body invites plenty of cuddling and her facial features are welcoming and mesmerizing. Jenny comes with her original care instruction booklet on the care and maintenance of these My Friend dolls. Jenny can be washed in the clothes washer and tumble dried in the dryer. In addition, her hair can be shampooed and styled in a variety of ways.
I've tried to include a variety of photos to illustrate how remarkable Jenny really is. I did not attempt to remove her clothing for fear of damaging the plastic encircling her head. All of her original clothes are included. Jenny's outfit consists of a yellow and white checked dress with a white bib and sleeves, a yellow bow at her neck, shiny white shoes, and a wide brimmed straw hat trimmed
with a yellow ribbon. NOTE: One of the photos appears to show some yellowing on Jenny's shoes. I've corrected this by immersing her shoes in bleach. They're now a sparkling white. Her cloth body displays yellow flowers and appears bright and undamaged. Her clothes are easy to remove or put in place thanks to their velcro closures. Jenny and her clothing are odor free.
The only "imperfection" I can spot on Jenny are two faint spots approximately 1 1/2" above her right heel. I took multiple photos of these spots, both with and without a flash, but didn't have much luck capturing them. I also tried manipulating the brightness and contrast functions when editing these pictures with limited success. I've posted my best shot of these for your perusal. I have
no idea what caused these. When I first examined Jenny, I spied a couple of other spots on both legs. I successfully removed these using a Chlorox Bleach pen and being careful not to leave it on too long so that the flesh tones not be leached out. The only spots remaining are the two I mentioned earlier. I've tried to remediate these as well but I've gone about as far as I can without
damaging the overall color of her leg. This "blemish" is difficult to see and doesn't detract from her overall appearance.
Jenny's box shows some modest wear. All flaps are intact as is the original cellophane cover. The front of the box is "bowed in," probably from having another box leaning against it. There is also a tear, which I have repaired on the inside with heavy duty tape, on the right hand side of the box under the name, "Jenny." There is some edge wear along the outside seam near the tear, some residue of the original tape to seal the package, and the remnants of an original price sticker. I would categorize this box as being an 8.0 on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being perfect.
Jenny weighs approximately 2 lbs. UNWRAPPED and my location is Lafayette, IN (47905).
Due to the weight of this item, I'll probably be sending Jenny via Priority Mail.
