Here for your consideration is an exciting, vintage, Playmobil #3773 Fort Bravo play set. The third in a series of different forts produced by Playmobil (e.g. Fort Union in 1976-1980, Fort Randall 1981-83/84), Fort Bravo entered the scene between 1988-1993. This set is VHTF complete and in this condition (NEAR MINT). It was retired in 1993. This set complimented Playmobil's expansive Western-themed collection consisting of Native American villages, train sets, buildings (e.g. a Drug Store, School, Saloon, Sheriff's Office, Church, Train Station, Ranches, Homes, Gold Mining Camps etc.), conveyances (e.g. Covered Wagons, Stage Coaches, Armored Treasure Wagons, horse and buggies etc.), and assorted characters (e.g. bandits, sheriff, miners, train passengers, homesteaders, ranchers etc.). Although Playmobil later introduced some other forts (e.g. Fort Eagle, Fort Glory etc.), these were not as intricate or complex as the Fort Bravo version.
Fort Bravo closely resembles those forts that were constructed in the American West during the 1850's-1870's to protect the wagon trains and settlers heading for California or Oregon. Fort Bravo is constructed of sturdy, heavy duty, plastic logs with "cat walks" for soldiers to patrol and keep watch over their domain. There are slots where the soldiers can take aim at any intruders with either their western rifles or pistols. The fort also has a prominent watch tower that can be accessed via a "wooden" ladder. This watch tower allows the "look out" to scan the horizon for any possible combatants. The fort is manned by five soldiers of different ranks (sorry, I don't know what the different stripes signify) and a commanding general. The general inspects his troops while mounted on his impressive steed and wielding his silver sword. Unlike many of these forts, this set includes all of the original accessories (e.g. beer steins, table, wooden chairs, rifle case, mattress and bed etc.). Children may position and play with these accessories by either removing the Headquarter's roof or by manipulating the soldiers and accessories on the roof itself. The front gate of the fort may be secured using a "wooden plank." The latter is often missing in these sets.
Other than the watch tower floor, this set is free of any cracked, broken, or repaired parts. The watch tower floor has two, connector points, one on each side of the floor, that have half of the connector circle broken off. These are difficult to spot and definitely do not interfere with the overall functioning of this piece.
I will be shipping this set un-assembled along with an original copy of its instructions. The set weighs approximately 7 lbs., 7 oz. UNWRAPPED. My location is Lafayette, IN (47905).
I will probably be shipping this set via Fed Ex Home Delivery. In order to do this, I must have a residential address and contact phone number (e.g. home, cell, or work place). Fed Ex will not deliver to a P.O. Box or without an accompanying contact phone number.
