Rare Vintage Playmobil Magic Princess Castle
#4251 Royal Kitchen
99.8% Complete/Near Mint (C)
(retired)
Do you like to cook? Well here's your chance to cook up a storm for the King of Playmobil's RARE Magic Princess Castle using its #4251 Royal Kitchen. Manufactured by Playmobil from 1996-13, this #4251 Magic Princess Castle Royal Kitchen was designed to connect to and extend the original Playmobil Magic Princess Castle #4250. I've painstakingly examined the contents of this set and it's 99.8% complete. I have inserted a xeroxed copy of the assembly instructions for your convenience. The set is 99.8% complete---missing only the small rubber loop for hanging the meat from the end of one shelf and a rolling pin. The latticed windows open and close. The only possible imperfection I can discern is some very minor darkening of one of the exterior columns. This darkening often happened to the white pieces as a result of excess sun exposure. I replaced all of the other pieces (e.g. scroll work, columns etc.) that evidenced pronounced darkening.
Other than the one aforementioned piece, everything is in NEAR MINT condition.
This sturdy structure is highly coveted by collectors and children alike. It features Playmobil's renowned System X System (e.g. both red and yellow connectors that lock into place using the special key tool). These connectors securely anchor all the walls, turrets, floors etc. together for uninterrupted play.
The set features a royal Maid or Cook who oversees the kitchen operations for the entire castle. She is joined in this endeavor by a inquisitive cat and a playful mouse. The Royal Kitchen is well-stocked with meat, fruits and vegetables, bread, and a sack of grain. The Cook employs a variety of kitchen utensils, dishes, mixing bowls, and pots and pans to create her culinary delights. She preps her meals on the "wooden" table and cooks them on a realistic looking hearth. The latter comes equipped with a grill, decorative "tiles", and a space to store wood for a fire. She transports her culinary creations and soothing refreshments to the royals using an elaborately decorated serving tray, royal goblets, and royal dishes. This is a set that affords hours of imaginative play.
FYI, Playmobil toys are renowned for their high quality, durability, attention to detail, and the extendibility of their underlying toy system. All figures are scaled to fit in a child's hand with add-on accessories (e.g. hats, skirts, aprons, collars, scarves, armor, headresses, shoes, sandals, jewelry etc.) lending authenticity to the different characters involved. The jointed figures are able to clasp items in their hands and move about through "child power." A wide assortment of vehicles, animals, furniture, and buildings are realistically scaled according to their "real-life" equivalents and to reflect actual life scenarios. Several of the animals have mouths that open and close and the elephants' trunks can pick up buckets by their handles etc.. All of Playmobil's play sets revolve around established "themes" familiar to young children (e.g. Medieval Castles and Knights, Pirates, Western Forts, Native Americans, Trains, Stage Coaches, Gold Mines, Circuses, Zoos, Victorian Mansions, Fairy Tale Castles, Sherwood Forest, Construction, Doctors and Dentists' Offices, Hospitals, Airports, Modern Homes etc.).
Given the high level of detail, children's imaginations are afforded endless open-ended play opportunities. Not only do these toys broaden a child's imagination, creativity, attention, and use of elaborate oral narratives, they also have earned numerous toy awards and conform to the highest production standards of quality and safety in accordance with European and American safety guidelines. The toys, while primarily manufactured in Germany, also are produced in Malta and Spain. They are distributed in more than 70 countries throughout the world.
I can vouch for the high quality and play value these toys afford. My own children played with a variety of these sets up until age 13! Talk about getting "your bang for the buck." Several of them were employed in school diorama projects. What a lifesaver! I also used them with my pre-school and school aged clients for speech-language therapy. They'd be great for families that are home-schooling their children.
Due to the small, intricate parts, Playmobil recommends that these toys be reserved for children 4 years of age and up. However, my daughter, who never mouthed her toys and was advanced for her age, received her first Playmobil toys at 2 1/2 years of age. Adult supervision is highly recommended for children under 3-4 years of age.
This is a fabulous set and one to provide many years of fun. I will be thoroughly Q-tip cleaning this set and all of its accessories prior to shipping it to its new owner.
This set weighs @2 lbs. UNWRAPPED. My location is Lafayette, IN (47905).
