Vintage Fisher Price Pick Up 'N Peek
#506 Bear and Cubs Puzzle
Very Good +++-EXC (B)

Here is a classic, vintage Fisher Price #506 Bear and Cubs Pick Up 'N Peek wooden puzzle for your inspection. This puzzle consists of 10 pieces, each equipped with a yellow peg. The pegs are designed to help little fingers easily remove the pieces from the puzzle. Manufactured between 1972-84, the puzzle depicts a mother bear going on a picnic with her cubs. The puzzle is intended for 2-5 year old children.
All of the pieces, when removed, have an underlying litho showing a given body part paired with its corresponding printed word. The latter promotes the importance of print (e.g. emergent literacy) in every day life. In my opinion, this puzzle is in VG+++-EXC condition. Noted imperfections include:
1. A few chips out of the wood surface (e.g. to the left of the baby bear, to the right of where her Mama bear's leg abuts the picnic basket, and at the edge of where her head connects with her body)
2. Minor edge wear on several of the puzzle pieces
3. Some light paint rubs on the Mama Bear's apron
4. A couple of minor chips on the back side of two puzzle pieces
5. Some light rubs on the interior lithos (e.g. on the cub nestled against the Mama Bear, on the Mama Bear's head and body, and on the cub up in the tree)
6. A spot of glue on the yellow dress of the little cub's yellow dress
The back of the puzzle reads "Made in Holland, right for Fisher Price Toys, copyright 1963, 1977, The Quaker Oats Company. There are a couple of small stains, a few scuffs, and some white marks on the back of the puzzle. These minor flaws do not detract from the function or appearance of the puzzle itself. This is a FANTASTIC puzzle for developing early language and eye/hand coordination skills as well as expanding a child's interest in print.
This solid wood puzzle exemplifies Fisher Price's reputation for durable, classic toys. The puzzle weighs 1 lb., 4 oz. UNWRAPPED and my location is Lafayette, IN (47905).
