Vintage Fisher Price Pick Up 'N Peek
#510 Nursery Rhymes
EXC++-NEAR MINT (B)
Here is a classic, Fisher Price Pick Up & Peek #510 Nursery Rhymes puzzle for your inspection. This puzzle consists of 6 pieces, each equipped with a yellow peg. The pegs are designed to help little fingers easily remove the pieces from the puzzle. Manufactured between 1972-81, the puzzle depicts a number of the classic Old Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes (e.g. Humpty Dumpty, Three Men in a Tub, Jack and Jill, Little Miss Muffet, Little Boy Blue, and Hey, Diddle Diddle). The puzzle is intended for 2-5 year old children. All of the pieces, when removed, have an underlying litho showing what happened subsequently to the main character at the beginning of the nursery rhyme. Preschoolers just adore standing these puzzle pieces upright and reciting the nursery rhymes. Beginning language learners, can fill in the last word of lines to a nursery rhyme spoken by a nearby adult. The lithos are captivating and spark a lot of conversational attempts. Beginning language learners love filling in the last word in the rhyme or standing the puzzle pieces upright before inserting them in the puzzle. In my opinion, this puzzle is in NEAR MINT condition.
Upon close examination, I can spy:
1. Some miniscule edge wear on (e.g. one ear of the cat, and the far right hand edge of the grass under Little Boy Blue);
2. One, barely perceptible indentation, approximately 3/4" L x 1/16" W, to the lower right of the tree on the Miss Muffet piece; this indentation is extremely shallow and has not marred the patina or surface of the puzzle; I only noticed this when holding the puzzle up within 3" of my eyes and under a light);
3. A light, gray mark on the back of the Miss Muffet piece; I may be able to remove this with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.
The exterior and interior lithos are "to die for" (MINT). The lithos are captivating with bright, bold colors and winsome illustrations.
This puzzle is marked as having been manufactured in Malta for Fisher Price and the Quaker Oats Company in 1971-72-73-76-79. This is a FANTASTIC puzzle for developing a child's early language and eye/hand coordination skills as well as expanding their attention span.
